Theatre Flamenco of San Francisco - Performing and educating the art of Flamenco for over 36 years

Founded in 1966 by Adela Clara, Theatre Flamenco was the first American resident dance company to stage full production of Spanish dance in the United States. The only dance company in San Francisco that is older than Theatre Flamenco is the San Francisco Ballet.

Thirty-eight years is a long time for a nonballet company to exist, and in those years, many other dance companies fell by the wayside. Theatre Flamenco also suffered through some very difficult financial times, but the combination of the tremendous love of Spanish dance and the support of San Francisco aundiences always pulled Theatre Flamenco through. Whether feast or famine, the love and respect of Spanish dance never wavered.
