Pedro Sanchez is a virtuoso flamenco guitar player who grew up in a genuine flamenco atmosphere in the Triana district of Sevilla in Spain. He will be here in November as part of the cast for the Theatre Flamenco of San Francisco 50th anniversary performances, El Latir del Tiempo/The Beat of Time. He has toured the world with a number of flamenco artists during his career, and he is the son of the great flamenco singer Naranjito de Triana, who first introduced him to the guitar.
Pedro Sanchez is a guitarist of great sensitivity and a very refined technique. His exquisite musical intuition has allowed him to enrich the classic flamenco guitar, developing a style of accompaniment that distills at all times respect and extraordinary timing to the singer and the dancer. Since 2005, he has been a member of the guitar faculty of the School of Flamenco Art-Cristina Heeren Foundation, teaching the subjects of flamenco guitar technique and accompaniment of singing and dancing. In this special workshop, Pedro will teach the methods of song-accompaniment and the fundamentals of dance-accompaniment, including the study of the classical structures and the basic variations typical to some of the flamenco dance forms.
