CLASS Descriptions - Please read carefully

This workshop prepares advanced dancers for tablao-style performance with a fixed weekly repertoire. Each student may assign a specific following palo to present each week.

Assigned Palo: Carola will assign you a section to present — like “from the entrada to one or two letras” (OR you may be able present the part you’d like to work on)

• Week 1 and 2 - October 1, 8 - SOLEA

• Week 3 - October 15 - Any 4-ount palo (e.g., Tientos, Tangos)

• Week 4 - October 22 Fiesta Week – Bulerías & Tangos with one singer and/or one guitarist

  NO CLASS on October 29

We want to focus deeply and explore each palo in depth.
That means sticking strictly to the assigned palo each week — for example, Alegrías week is only Alegrías, not other 12-count styles or similar rhythms like Soleá por Bulería. Staying within the assigned palo allows us to go deeper into its structure, mood, and interpretation.

If you do not have the assigned palo prepared, you will focus on accompanying skills such as palmas and jaleos during that week.

⚠️ Important: This class is not intended for those who only want to learn palmas.

Class Focus:

This class is not focused on polishing your solos, but on learning how to accompany dancers with your palmas in a live tablao setting.

We will use a “one dancer, one palmero” approach:
Each dancer will be accompanied by one assigned palmero/a, allowing for:

• Clear visibility and evaluation of palmas

• Focused feedback on compás, accents, and responsiveness

• Serious, active training for both the dancer and the palmero/a

Even if you're not dancing that week, you're actively learning essential tablao skills by supporting, observing, and internalizing the palo from the palmera's perspective.

About Live Musicians:

One singer and/or one guitarist will be hired for Fiesta Week only.

• No Drop-In and No Online for this class. No walk-in without this registration.

• NO FILMING of teachers or other students is allowed without the teacher’s permission. 

  If you are enrolled in "choreography" classes, teachers may permit you to film at the end of the class if necessary. Please do not film in the middle of the class. All films are for personal use only. 

  If you are enrolled in 'technique' classes, filming is not allowed. Please do not expect teachers to permit filming. 

Please be aware that the videos we provide are not only integral to the class experience but also represent Carola or any teacher’s years of expertise and teaching style. Access to these materials is exclusively granted to enrolled students as part of the class fee. We kindly request your cooperation in respecting the value of our teacher's work. Thank you.
